I've been working on getting a new build ready, but I'm sidetracked by other things.
I want YOU to read the wiki.
And this one too. Also, SLADE3.

Cool, cool - as long as it's based on the Build 48 (the latest), than you're good to go! Doesn't matter WHO puts it together - the finalized Hpack weapons is what will make Build 49 just that - except of course the staff doesn't have the equivalent powered-up attack animations yet.

They can't really be considered "finalized" by any means just yet, for those reasons and more, but they're definitely closer to the final thing.

I'll get to submitting a weapon patch (finally) by either late tonight or mid-day tomorrow-ish (depends on how busy tonight is for me -- can't say for sure). Still have to tie up a few loose ends and write up some quick patching how-to's (to make it easy to know what to remove, update, etc.).

[EDIT] The FTP info hasn't changed, has it? I suddenly can't log in any more and FileZilla is being an idiot and won't let me view/change the connection information (QuickConnect is total bollocks, seems).

I know it did a while back, and I can still connect with the latest info.

Also, I use (and love) FireFTP.

Thanks for the link, Neural, and to Ghastly too for sending the new FTP info. I forgot about the hacks for some reason. Yay memory or lack thereof! :P

Anyhow, it's a bit overdue, but the weapons have been submitted (xa-hpwep03a.pk3), and should be compatible with the new .pk3 now. Let me know if you have any trouble with it, Gez -- I think I'm not missing anything important, but as I said, I'm not exactly renowned for having excellent memory. :P

And sorry for missing your PM, CodenniumRed -- I was absent from the boards a bit too long, so it's my bad. Thanks for sending it and letting me know, though -- everything should be compatible with the new build since I didn't mess with heretic.gl directly. The exported defs should work just fine, hopefully.

Re: Build 48:

I haven't played through all the new maps just yet (it's hot here and I need to let my PC cool down :P ), but they look good from a quick glance. :P

Have to say, though I'm happy with Silverspring Docks' placement now, the music isn't going to work. 14 megabytes for a small map is seriously excessive, and even if it's scaled down like H1M7/H1M8's music, I really don't care much for it anyway since it's just generic ambience and nothing catchy -- even if it is from the original game.

I'm all for having a custom tune for the map, but it either needs to be compressed a lot or replaced with something more fitting. For now, even a stock track would do if only to save some filesize. My twopence, anyway.

IMO, Mus_E1M1 would give it a vrey nice flavor. A new take on The Docks.

I merged them without problem. The only issue was that the crossbow ammo clones ended up being declared in two different places because they were also in ammo.txt.

Since I did not see any redrawn ammo sprites (I'm not talking about the medium ammo ones), I just ended up cleaning out all those BlahblahAmmo2/BlahblahHefty2 actors that were just changing the scale for no discernible reason.

I agree, and I remember the rule is still "no more than 1 meg of music per map", so I removed it.

I also optimized all new PNG sprites. Still, the archive remains significantly larger than build 47. I'm not sure what takes up so much space.

Yeah I can't connect anymore either, using CoreFTP here though.

Ok, got it now. My map does not appear to have been replaced with the updated version I uploaded some time ago (h1m7g.zip)

Still examining the other maps, damn they are good, need to get my act together :-P
