been very inspired to work on my E5 map. not sure if i will ever finish the E4 map i started, but hopefully i will get my E5 map done atleast.

also, if i bother, i might sprite a... huge fucking boss... for my map, in that case could it be moved to be the last map of E5? it shouldn't be so hard to make as of in my plans it wont have walking animations, just rotations and attack frames ofcourse... (death if i just dont make it a nuke explosion or something xD)

I'd say it'd depend on the boss. If everyone agrees it'd make an excellent and fitting final boss, I say go for it, but it could also make a good boss of the second-to-last level (like the Network Guardian in Quake 4).

I've always imagined the ending involving the final Sons of D'Sparil summoning some sort of big bad evil or something. Perhaps give these Sons a name (one for each type, since there's 5 types and 5 episodes) and have them as minor villains throughout in addition to the common-ish ones?

heh, yeah well some pretty interesting ideas would be the heresiarch riding the korax (as a serpent rider, that would make more sense instead of korax being the serpent rider which would be weird)

and eidolon riding some big motherfucking serpent xD


anyway this is not the plans for the boss i had in mind. the boss i had in mind would kinda be "built in with my map". it would be slithering all over the place (its a worm/snake) and in the end you would fight its head

so yeah, if you guys plan having some sort of sorcerer/serpent rider as the boss, then this guy could probably fit as a mini boss.

I've always forgiven the "rider" moniker by considering that they use their mounts only for interplanar travel. It says something in the Hexen 2 storyline that they like to travel and conquer worlds, like Parthoris, Kronos or Thyrion(sp?). The absence of serpents under Korax and Eidolon can be explained that they're spectral. They only get summoned when interplanar travel is due. Finally, the serpents look just like the Chinese flying dragon, which makes sense for them to be for traveling into wormholes in space. It's just like you encounter knights and paladins in RPGs, without them riding their steeds. It's impractical for them to ride them indoors.

Do mind that this theory was spawned in my head before I encountered D'sparil in Heretic. Considering the way that serpent looks like, and that most people actually start the Raven saga by playing Heretic 1, my opinion may be warped. But it still doesn't prevent the possibility of the Chaos Serpent being merely a secondary mount, and D'sparil riding a standard Chinese dragon when going to other worlds.

I had an idea for final boss some time ago. An alternative Corvus who hijacked powers of Serpent rider and become new one. Since the last episode takes place in mysterious void it could be illusion created by that unstable enviroment. The boss fight could be similar to DSparill fight only the rider would be Corvus, carrying DSparill staff and using mixture of DSparill attacks and Corvus weaponry. Maybe even using artifacts like knocking him under 50% would make him use Tome of Power and use powered versions of his weapons.
