Is there a chance that this map will be extended to cover the whole "Silverspring" hub from Heretic 2, with a token boss at the end (or maybe not)?

Not my original plan, but it COULD be done. How would I implement this though? H1M2 and H1M3 are already determined; otherwise the four Silverspring maps together could have ended with a mid-episode boss.

That might make the map a little too long. I like its size at the moment: short and sweet, as most intro maps. Still have some feedback I need to give on it and the next two maps, but I need to play through them all first and I've been busy as of late.

I COULD push the current H1M2 and H1M3 to the H1M5 and H1M6 slots respectively. That way the first four levels would than all be based off of the first four Heretic II levels. The mid-boss would be a Son of D'Sparil, where you learn of why monsters are attacking Parthoris again.

Also I had an idea, H1M9, right after Torm's map with the fight against the first two Bormereths... they're not the Ep1 boss if there's an H1M9, which I'd call Stronghold. Yes, it's an homage. Basically you arrive at the final elven bastion and have to protect the fort from an incursion of monsters from the courtryside.

And that makes all of episode 1, save for H1M0, a secret level. We'd have:

h1m1 - Silverspring Docks
h1m2 - Silverspring Warehouse
h1m3 - Silverspring Town
h1m4 - Silverspring Palace (mid-boss, 1st Son of D'Sparil)
h1m5 - Crypt
h1m6 - Elven Wood
h1m7 - Dead End (boss, Maulotaur)
h1m8 - City of Darkness (bosses, Sentinels and Bormereths)
h1m9 - Stronghold (non-existant assault-class boss)
h1m0 - secret map

How about it? And if people still want to do Episode 1-themed maps it can be anything after H1M4.

Why? This isn't a Heretic II TC. :-/

I really like this map as Map01, but if this is a direct remake of a level from Heretic 2 then it should definately be a secret map instead.

That was what I was thinking as well, but apparently there can be only one secret map per episode and Xaser's got the dibs on E1. :-/
I want YOU to read the wiki.
And this one too. Also, SLADE3.

Was anyone who decreed that?

Captain Toenail: But didn't you make Vestibule*? :P

Hmm, this again, though? I still disagree, reasons here. The short version: Making it secret would be bad because it works as an M1 map already and wouldn't fit as a secret map (reasons in link -- main one is that being a remake doesn't automatically make it a rewarding secret. See Wolfenstein/Grosse).

*yes, I know it was inspired by System Control, not a direct remake. :P

True that Xaser, although it isn't a direct remake :-P

To be honest I wasn't too proud of my ZPack maps, too short, linear and forgettable IMO. If my HPack map needs work can you please tell me this time ?-)

Anyway, how about making this the secret map for episode one, and have a secret exit within it that leads to Xaser's map (which is bound to be quirky and amusing knowing Xaser) to make it super-secret?
