Definitely get a new sprite, but I really like the effect.

I wonder if I'll not be lazy tomorrow and mix something up.
We'll see. ?-)

That screen fade is too bright, IMO. You might want to tone it down a little.

And speaking of which, you can achieve that same fade effect in DECORATE with the use of A_SetBlend instead of using an ACS script.

Now, my gripe with the item, unfortunately, is the way it balances itself out; the inability to cause any damage, which in my book as a player even more important than being invulnerable and/or invisible. It's like giving me a new heart and taking away my lungs in return (probably a bad metaphor, but still, you get the idea).

I like the idea of it if it was an inventory item (Heretic/Hexen style), rather than a sphere. As an instant-use item, it's basically the mapper dictating "okay, for this section, you aren't allowed to do this" (which is a form of flow control that wouldn't be very popular among players). If it was an inventory item, it would be a get-out-of-jail-free card. I can think of a few occasions in several megawads where I'd LOVE the opportunity to become invulnerable temporarily just so I could run to a better position, and the inability to damage during this time would be an interesting balancer.

Well, if that's the case then this might as well be turned into a Doom styled Chaos Device.

Alright, mixed something up just now:

And here are the frames.
Animation is 4 tics for all but the last two frames, which last 5 tics.
No offsets, but SLADE3's automatic offsets oughta do the job easily.

I had actually originally intended for it to be a raven-style inventory item, but I couldn't find sprites that fit in at all.

Anyway, updated:
- Screen blend effect lasts for the duration of the powerup, but is much less intense
- Added blox's new sprites
- Changed to raven-style inventory item

Something about the sprite i dont like =/

All other spheres have some "edge" to them, a limit showing the outside of the sphere.
Bloax made a nice sphere, but it lacks some inspiration and that edge i refered to. it seems more of a creepy looking projectile or monster, hidden in a cloud of darkness.

The sprite's simply not Doom-style. Turning it into something that looks like a mix between this and the Soulsphere and I am fine :)
