Knowing Phobus we will probably either get something really quirky or something very traditional Doom. Either way it's a win win situation. ;-)

That being said I would like to see some real Hellish stuff in Hell, heh. Unfortunate marines being tortured, dunked in pits of lava, crucified upside-down, hanging from the ceiling, being crushed, cages full of poor sods, skewered on sticks, eaten alive by pinkies, forced to listen to Justin Bieber etc.. Think of the captured soldiers in Quake 2, but less annoying obviously. Could put that scream sound pack on the repository to use. :-P

Thanks for the vote of confidence :)

So far I've added a small area that looks a lot like Gorefest from Coils of the Twisted Tale (Khorne would be happy) and gotten to grips with UDMF mapping. I was going to have this bit branch into three areas, one of which is an extension/re-use of Gez's cages area; the other two will be a fire and brimstone hell and dungeon sporting a fair bit of what Toenail's just described. Detail is going to be bare minimum so I can get as much area in as possible, but I'll try and manage gameplay as well as scripted ideas/gimmicks. I'm thinking getting a red skull and a yellow skull to open up the area for Xaser's section will be the overall aim of this non-linearity.

Sounds good to me -- nonlinearity n' exploration are great. :)

I might make some changes with how Vader's and Gez's areas connect once boss time rolls around, since I've got an idea for the end sequence that may not be possible with how things are currently laid out. I'll tackle it then, though. For now, map away! :P

Been at it one day and it's not particularly pretty, but there's quite a bit there already. I intend to do a fair bit more to the north east and also to the south of the area shown in this editor shot:

Must have spent something like 12 hours on this today :D: Doesn't seem like much done in the time, but as there's scripting and stuff that wanted testing, I guess that's acceptable :\

Well, in my book (as I'm the slowest ever when it comes to mapping :-P ) this's an acceptable effort for a 12-hour work and you still have another day.

Keep it up, sir ;-)

This area is very WIP (it has the wrong sky, for starters), but here's a very important feature that I'm proud of, as inspired by the Burj Khalifa's dancing fountains:

I think this was probably the only way to top the CC3MAP18 perspective illusion ;)

Oh, you have no idea how lacking in detail this is...

I took Dusk's suggestion of trying to get as much area in as possible and I think even my plans there have over-stepped the allotted time. I reckon with another couple of full days work I could finish the areas up properly (although probably not to the standard of what we already have), so if nobody has any objections (or beats me to it) I'll use that Phase 2 slot I've got booked (9th-10th June) to do exactly that. It's quite an early one, I believe, so that should work nicely. As it is I'm currently finishing a Disneyland-style castle and will then have a crack at getting in the absolute bare minimum to progress onto Xaser's area and give him an obvious line to develop from.

This will need a lot more detail, gameplay and tidying up when I hand this in (in about 4 hours) so sorry about that team! Like I say, I'll be more than happy to dedicate another two full days to sorting this out properly with my Phase 2 slot.

EDIT: Here's the aforementioned Disneyland - rather a lot of 3D floors go into this:

Now I'm on to bare-minimum stuff for the north-easternmost fire/brimstone area (storing the red skull key) and I'll just chuck a yellow skull switch into the completely undeveloped wing of the southern development so that it's functionally complete. Then I just need to do the join for Xaser's part and we're merely horribly disappointed rather than completely inconvenienced. :-(

Looks good. I'll check it out tomorrow morning. Those stock red stone and brick textures are a bit ugly, but they can probably be swapped out at stage 2 if it's an issue.
