I don't know if the seaweed has a translation applied to it or not, but on close inspection it looks a bit odd. Half of it is green, half red.



Also it is probably best just to stick with the warping variant, the other one doesn't animate so great.

I did apply a translation there - must have not caught the entire green range. As for your second point, I preferred having two variations as it makes for a more versatile sea-scape.

It's all red. That's a dark brown you're seeing, which is unfortunately what the software renderer uses for dark reds since there aren't any in the palette.

Is it really that bad?

I'd be tempted to say it's fine, as the original seaweed colours are pretty high-contrast too.

Oh yeah, it is brown. It looks green on my laptop screen, yet brown on my PSP screen. Odd.

Anyway maybe this is a non-issue and I am just being too fussy.
