You should probably recolour the purple area to olive green, saturate the gold and convert to Heretic palette so it fits in with existing stock textures/props, otherwise looks cool.

Green isn't much more convincing than purple. Can you try a bronze, iron, silver, sandstone tan or stone grey instead? Colors that would fit.

On the sprites themselves, I think they're a bit too short for the perspective to work. The bottom of the pillar is rounded, but the top is perfectly flat as if exactly at eye level. It's just a minor detail, but it bugs me.
I want YOU to read the wiki.
And this one too. Also, SLADE3.

So it fits in with existing stock textures and props...

No point having a slightly off-colour prop of differing quality amongst the standard stuff, looks odd.

Resources can be truecolor and still fit in. Anally raping graphics by forcing them into a game's native palette doesn't "make them fit in." In most cases, unless a graphic is designed with a specific palette in mind (like how esselfortium does textures) you're going to wind up with a loss of color depth and it will look like shit.

Besides, what if someone wants to use them in another game? Then, you either have to force them into that game's palette, further degrading the quality, or you have to make PNGs out of the ones that are already in Heretic's palette.

I agree with Gez' suggestion, that's more neutral

Oh, nevermind. :P

I think these look pretty good. (Although I liked the original, desaturated gold a little better!)

Mind the random dark blue pixels around the basin/prongs, though.
