Heh, I think you and I are talking about two different things. My issue with the sprite is probably related with the shading of the yellow/gold part. Seeing it up close is alright, however, from distance not so much.

In Paintshop Pro, if you use the hue map tool (or whatever it would be in your version) and dial up saturation to maximum, you'd get these random bright-red pixels.
Well, I did that but there wasn't much of a difference between "before" and "after" versions and I didn't notice any "random bright-red pixels"...

A number of IWad sprites look messy/aliased from a distance, I don't see why you should change the sprite drastically just for that. :\

Okey, I fixed the "issue" I was having with the sprite, though, I don't know about Ghastly's. I also got rid of the left and right gems.

What do you think?

Yeah, I pretty much prefer the gold one too just because the shading on the supposed-to-be silver one isn't silver-y enough, IMO.

But that's easily fixable if needed.

It's not that, the gold (or more of a copper color) for some reason fits the theme of the item better.

I think the problem comes from the fact the colors clash when you have silver/red.

Compare with a more usual pairing for siilver, silver/blue:

I want YOU to read the wiki.
And this one too. Also, SLADE3.

I've been thinking about doing a version of this for Doom; basically, it'll behave exactly the same except it'll give you Doom ammo and it'll have a thematically fitting sprite (sphere *cough*). :-P

Do you think it's worth the effort?

If so, what's the favorite way of submitting, including it with the amulet, or having it as a separate submission?

Yeah, I think combining silver with blue fits better than with red.

Sure. It'd go nicely for multiplayer, though it'd make no sense in a single-player sense (yes, damage I'm taking is being turned into physical shotgun shells :P ).
