[UPDATE] Renamed to Operation: Schlangenkopf

This is the mission where you go to this dope castle named Chateau Bruniquel in France and 420 noscope everyone as usual.

Ahem... There are a huge number of issues with this level. As I was playing through the level, I made note of each issue I came across and each suggestion I came up with.
  • Stuck scientist in basement of the house containing the blue key, preventing the player from opening the front door of that house.
  • Stuck dogs in mutant lab.
  • Dog cage in deep catacombs (where the yellow key and the ghosts are) not opening.
  • Player needs more resources at start (ammo), perhaps a browning auto-5?
  • Add a portal to the two-storey house?
  • Player can walk through castle windows near locations (X:13084, Y:267) and (X:15024, Y:367).
  • Secret area with just explosive barrels in it.
  • Add a secret area containing a backpack? Just a thought. Candidate areas: (X:2992, Y:4836), (X:2647, Y:2822), secret area with barrels, add push wall (X:14509, Y:2736), (X:14189, Y:1482)
  • Rooms to the side in Eisenmann lab with purple key have damaging floors (bug?)
  • Add escape music (and perhaps more enemies?) to the end of the level?
  • Cannot "use" Douglas Blake to return to Allied HQ AKA INTERMAP.
  • Replace music with C3M3_MUS?
  • Certain cliffs need to be marked as impassable.
  • Torches with invisible flames. (X:8485, Y:6141)
  • All double doors have no mirror polyobjects. (X:14067, Y: 195)

Thanks alot for the playthrough, did some fixes and here is what I got:

  • The doors on the upper floor can impede your movement on the lower floor and in the attic. Unless it's possible to use the 3D Midtex flag on the door polyobjects to restrict the doors' collision height.

    A few more suggestions and issues I found:
    • I found a stuck scientist at (X: 13790, Y: -123).
    • The dogs at (X: 13977, Y: -3136) are not waking up.
    • The push wall near (X: 16961, Y: 816) has the wrong texture and moves in the wrong direction.
    • Please add some medium medkits or a large medkit to the secret at (X: 14600, Y: 2588), as well as the secret at (X: 13407, Y:-368).

    This mission feels so bland to me for some reason. I guess it's because the boss fights don't have much, if any, drama to them.

    Like, in C1M2, there was a boss fight with Dr. Schabbs Jr. inside a big chamber, in which he would laugh over the loudspeakers, throw a bunch of mutants at you, and come down to finish you off himself.

    I think that kind of scripted drama was what made C1M2 interesting.

    I'd suggest improving the boss fight with Graf Holzbein (the guy in the wheelchair) by having him behind a glass barrier when he is introduced, having some nazis come out of doors at the side of the room or dropping in from the ceiling, and then when those guys are dead, open up the glass barrier to reveal Graf Holzbein.

    I totally agree with you and it's the same feeling to me. Both boss fights simply suck, it's nothing less. I want to improve both of them and I like your suggestions, so any idea to the boss fight at the end?

    I think I like both boss fights a lot more now. However, the fight with Schwabbelhals was a bit confusing at first because I didn't expect to need to approach the door to his office so closely. Also, when the fight with Schwabbelhals is over, it seems as if more dogs are come in to finish you off, and I don't like that, particularly because the room is so dark after you defeat him.

    Edit: More bugs/suggestions
    There are Doom ammo clips instead of WolfenDoom 9mm ammo clips in Graf Holzbein's chamber.

    Also, I think the oversized radios should each be replaced with a table with a radio and Feld Hell machine on it.

    @newuser Simply deactivate heuristics before downloading the .pk3 file, then exclude the .exe file with the antivirus

    When in doubt, you can contact a contributor directly; most are registered on ZDoom.org, so you can use that site's PM system to contact them.

    The version available from that thread I linked is in .PK3 format. It should run as-is, provided you have a recent enough dev build.
