Hey, i've been having LOADS of fun playing wolfendoom, and was very happy when chapter 2 released, played it several times, you did a wonderful job, and beeing a game developer myself a bit, wanted, to say, that you could improve some stuff, without sacrificing your chosen style. It's up to you, to regard this as something usefull or not, but i hope you'll appreciate the feedback.

1) Would realy like to have a cheat section option to give 100% weapon drop chance, because, there was this one time, I played the C1M6, and the game just kept giving me LOADS of german 7.92 rifle ammo... and never given the rifle and that's just the biggest example, i know random is a bitch and life is random at times and stuff, but it's a game and sometimes it doesn't feel entirely fair. A lot of times i found myself in abundance of flamer fuel in the entire chapter 1... without a flamethrower to actually use it LOL (C1M2, looking at you). Or you might make it so that when you meet a group of people weilding this one weapon type that you want, you could make it so that at the very least 1 of em drops what you need. Because i understand that when you shoot people you shoot their guns, it gets jammed etc, etc, but it can easily ruin all the fun from the level, if all you get is a pistol + a lot of ammo, that you will NEVER use, just cause last 20 rifleman nazies, never dropped any rifles. You have to understand why some people might call random drop stupid, it's because of situations like this. Also, 7,92 was REALLY common in germany in ww2, i find it weird that it's so rare in the game.

2) I kinda feel that UMG 43 is unfairly underused, there is plenty of situations to use it, but it's simply not there, biggest example is C2M2 with that cool arena and stuff, and that's right about exactly the place where UMG would be at the best place possible, yet it is not there. And UMG 43 would not ruin the balance, mostly because it chews through your ammo pool like it's cookies and not all that accurate. Same goes for Pyrolight, he REALLY needs more action

3) Having played both chapters on all difficulties even herrenrasse and mein leben!! I found a really odd balance situation: shotgun is pretty good, but sometimes it's just so hapens, that it is safer to just spam boss enemies with rapid fire 9mm weapons so that they get infinitely stunlocked. and because of this i'm using mp40 on basic nazis, supersoldier types. mutants, mechs, and well almost anything, which is a shame cause shotgun is REALLY fun to use. I'm saying maybe reduce stun chance for 9mm weapons, same goes for flamer, and the UMG 43 thingy ( it just shreds any boss enemy, making the fight to easy ) and make shotgun and 7.92 weapons have a lot easier time to deal with bosses. I mean it's 7.92 for christ sake, it should just punch strait through them and cause a prolonged bleeding.

3.1)Same thing happened in the astrostein map ( the second part of it ) I found that it is generaly wiser in terms of survivability to use shotgun (!) on basic enemies (!!) and rapidfire thingy on bosses (!!!) just because it stunlocks and allows you to keep your health and armor high enough, it kinda puzzles me ( and i sure thing average player would get puzzled too ) Also, would be cool if you made supersoldiers drop umg43 ( i mean it looks like they use it, and the one you find in C2M5 acts pretty same to me ), also, the astrostein while is fun, i'd love for the weapons to act more like weapons from the game dark forces ( i do not mean they must have no reload ) but such a large spread on a plasma rifle thingy? That retarded ball of energy from snail witcher school? a shotgun with such a slow firing speed and impractical spread anywhere but point blank range? That's not something a german person with german mind would use, produce or invent. What i'd say about this is: make the rifle have lesser spread, but reduce damage, make shotgun have a tighter spread, more damage, higher firing speed, and make it so that shotgun ammo is about 3.6 times more rare than it was, the green BLOB cannon, make it 40% less damaging, higher rate of fire, give it larger AOE, instant explosion, and faster bullet speed ( about 2.5 times slower than doom rocket launcher, but with a resonable parabollic projectile curve, or just make it a railgun like shooty ) Yes, that would make the future weaponry less gimmicky and nerdy, but in the end, i just usually play the secret level without the green blob gun alltogether, which is not good, cause it really lack a good pack a puncher against bosses or mobs. Guns can be gimmicky, but gimmickness must not contradict it's usefullness, it must expand it. An example: allow plasma round from rifle ricochet, allow shotgun to empty it's full clip with 1 shot, at an expense of 200% reload time, and play some overheat sound. give BLOB gun a damage over time like effect, when it radiates the place it shot at ( but remove stunlock chance from damage over time effect, or it will brake the level ), also make future grenades sticky or homing.

4) The weapon strip after mission thingy, i can undestand it ( though i can't say that i'm the №1 fan of it ), but it would sure be nice to keep at least 1 ( maybe 2? Idk, it's not really that importaint ) weapons from your previous mission ( some sort of your favorite gun that you liked a lot, that you can keep ), and you could always start the following mission with 1 of your guns from previous level. And i don't mean that it will make every player to stick to UMG 43, no, might just restrict heavy weapons from this list, but allow player to choose 1 of the common ww2 balistic weapons ( luger,walther,trenchshotty,browningauto,mp40,sten,g43,kar98k ).

5) Also found a bug in the C2M2 arena elevator, if you ever wanted to return there after the event has been triggered and you took the key, you could ride the elevator down yea, but you couldn't get back up from there, weird. Idk maybe that was just my silly R9 furry gpu.

6) I'm surprised to say this, but Chapter 2 kinda lacks... mechs (LOL). I mean they are introduced in that C2M2 in that EPIC FIGHT, and then... you meet like 1-2 at a time... which is a shame cause they ARE FUN to fight. Also, regarding C2M2 second part, where you lose all your shit. just 3 words: MAKE ARENA BIGGER. it is imposible to finish on mein leben!! and almost imposible to fight fair on Herrenrasse. Unless you're spinal cord is that of a wh40k space marine. And remove the pillars, you can just exploit them without mechs ever having a chance of hitting you... not that much of a bossfight, if a boss can't even fight you.

7) That gassmask elite SS dudes, rifleman have riddiculously low health, while smg/flamer type have INSANLY LARGE on par with supersoldiers ( which is a bit weird, considering how armor works, I know they might wear long capes, to conceal the part that they are mutant/genemoded soldiers, with advanced armor under that trenchcoat ), but that is not obvious and directly understandable to average player. ( that besides the fact, that any shot to a head with a 7.92 while may not brake the helmet would most certainly break neck )

8) May i suggest a better solution for C2M1? the unobtainable weapons in the first part is really unrealistic, but there is a simple way, to keep the stealth aproach without sacrificing weapon pickup. There is this LARGE prison interior ( the one where nazies do a firing squad ), on the 3rd floor there is this observation room. Make it so, that main alarm system is located there, and if there was to be a weapon fired, before you get there and disable the alram thingy, SS gasmask flamer dudes would spawn in groups of 2 all around prison hunting for you ( or just replace normal guards with SS gasmask dudes ). This'll make short work of anyone who wants to break out of prison guns blazing without any regard to stealth, but it is still a viable option. ( I mean you can still get firearms and use them early, but their premature usage is highly discouraged, to the point of beeing suicidal, at the very least, cause you have like 30 health? what's that to a gasmask SS dude, he'll just laugh at you ). Also make more vents for prison and make them short. + the stealth part could use lesser visibility for nazis. You already know about the dogs beeing INSANELY strong in that 1st encounter, so i won't say anything about it. Also, a Nazi prison level without gas chamber? Come on. Also no throwing knifes, bummer.

9) That rail shooter C2M4 africa part? Loved every second of it, but i kinda think it would be more fun to give a more rapidfiring/less packapunching weapon with the same DPS as the launcher ( maybe a high cal cannon with explosive rounds? ), and make more nazies in afrika on the rail part, it was REALLY fun to shoot them. Also warn the player about APC sooner, cause you have very little time to reand AND react. ( voiceover would probably fix this )

10) That mission in the eisenman factory ( the outside part ), the trees have a very bad habbit of ruining your shots, especially near the entrance to the facility, it's just hitbox porn ( especially when you escape, and there is this part with 2 mg nests and flamer dudes around the corner that you can't really shoot at, cause trees are in the way, but they're not visually ), yea, the entire mission needs to have it's tree hitbox shenanigans fixed ( keypoints are: the way to the house on the hill, right before the seond tank, the second tank battle, the escape route ), speaking of hitbox bullshit, there is that robot-minigun standing on a cilinder kinda thingy, it's hitbox is just completely obnoxious to the point of throwing up.

11) I'd really wish for the HQ to have 1 dude, who could tell you 'bout the weapon stats and lore ( not all are aware of where the weapon came from ) for example luger has damage x, spread y, firespeed z, was made for x1, and x2, performed well so germans produced x3 of them, most widespread german sidearm and stuff like that, would be also good if he only knew normal weapons, and learned stats of advanced weapons after you found them. Also, the afroamerican guy in the armorty, FIRST AND FOREMOST, CHANGE HIS PANTS COLOR, PLEASE, I BEG YOU, IT ALMOST FEELS HE DOESN'T WEAR ANY ( i'm not racist, please don't hit me with a stick, but these pants really looks awful ), secondly, make him speak about how much % of damage specific armor type can consume ( also that futuristic absorb armor is a joke, make it more durable, or it looses in every aspect to heavy armor which is stupid, cause it's supposed to be futuristic right?).

12) the very end of chapter 2. the metal grate would never protect a traitor from a flame of my flamethrower, but if you'd destroyed the bridge, that was used to get here from previous section, and forced player to go to the elevator that traitor used when he escaped after the cutsceene, where he would be greeted by a room with buletproof glass and the same scenario, that'd be much more sensible ( even better, if there was an ambush of WHOLE lot of nazi MGs after traitor leaves, and player was forced to run away to the escape he originaly used in the last mission of chapter 2.

13) The game lacks some sort of revlover ( not necesarily ), mauser c96, stg44 and mg34/42, but that's just what i'd like to see, so yeah, 'd be happy if there was more weapon variety. And nazi weird guns should see action A LOT more often.

14) that paris tomb in C1M5 ( i think? ), where you find the skull key to the catacombs and couple of spirits try to kill you, arena must be bigger, it is REALLY hard to manuever in such a tight spot. Also, the final Paris battle, you can just duck behind the turret and take 0 damage at all, adress that, it's like SUPER easy to exploit, either fix the ducking thing, or make it harder, idk.

15) You already know about the performance issues in C2M3, what i'd rather say is I really enjoyed the mission, but that lonely minefield? it is pointless, unless you hide something interesting in it ( or a hidden pathway to church, or a valley of sorts, or a path through an old mine to church idk), that underground place with lots of mutants, there is very little decent cover, and the space is very tight, it is SUPER hard for player to react, just because he doesn't really have much room ( again, might make the place a tiny bit larger, and put some cover here and there ), also, that place with the purple goo and the key in the middle, the middle platform must start to sink after you pick up the key, and the arena must be a bit bigger, to be able to survive going into the purple goo, while having enough room to dodge the melee mutants, otherwise the player'll just shoot the melee mutants, and that's just a way of throwing ammo, at something that can't even attack you, idk how, but the place needs design update in a way where mutants are less useleess there. consider your C1M6 arena the best designed in terms of gameplay.

16) There is a way to fix purple fan trap room without destroying it, simply make pauses between fan operation longer, more easier to get safe spots + make it so that there is a safe place in the middle, put a nazi ss gassmask dude ( for example ) in there all drinking cofee and stuff, make it so that he'll go right at you, only to get blown away by a fan and die. So the player could be properly introduced to the trap and understand what the hell the game wants from him ( the player ), without DARK SOULSing him to death with a surprise f*** you.

17) There is nothing bad about gimmicks if they complement the gameplay, allow it to be more rich and vivid, but overuse of gimmicks in wrong places can severly hinder it. A dude wrote here about C1M6 lava part, that fucks him up, to a certain degree he is reasonable, cause lava's a gimmick ( though i really like the jumping over lava part ) but there is a way to fix the lava part, without destroying it's intention, give player an alternative route around lava, but he'd be forced to meet A LOT of strong enemies and not given much ammo, and he'll exhaust sufficient amount of ammo and health for not playing the lava part. You can also survive drinking from the holy grail if you have enough health and armor ( don't know if it's meant to be like that )

18) I find it weird that you can't sprint in nazi scientist uniform, i know it's a coat, but i ran with more than 20kg back in the army, believe me it's possible, just make it so that if natzies see you run, they'll start to act like a gestapo dude and look at you ( or just make it as if you fired a gun, and if you sprinted while visible, they'd just shoot you for that ZERE IZ NO RUNINGZ IN MY BAZE kinda style )

19) I remember ithaca 37 having only 4, 5, or 7 round mag, what i'd wish there was is a point of using it instead of auto 5. ( make it more damaging idk ) because i really liked your ithaca 37.

20) would be great if snipers had a chance to drop unscoped kar98, cause ya know, scope is the most fragile thingy there, it is SUPER easy to break ( or make unsuable, because all the adjustment fire went to shit cause of vibration ). You could just upgrade kar98 the moment you picked up the scoped variant. Also shovel is really fun, place it more often. Also, it would really be fun if rifles could hit through targets ( with lesser strength obviously )

21) Not enough nazi zombies in C2M6, must be more nazi zombies all around the tomb, they're cool and fun to fight, and they make funny noises.

22) blade of agony feels week copared to flamer in that part, make it shoot something useful, or i promise no one will ever use it against anything but a boss. ( and even then unlikely ). one of the solutions would be make projectile bigger, and allow it to pass through ennemies, give it more damage, and take more health from player ( not armor please ), that way it'll become high risk high reward kind of weapon instead of just a useless gimmick

23) Also would love to see headshot bonus one day.

24) there is a bug in chapter 2 secret mission, there is a pyramid, where you must drop down into a pool, right near it's doorstep ( to the left of it if you're looking at the stairs directly from outside the pyramid ), there is a hole in the landscape ( maybe it's just my r9 furry again, idk ). Can drop you a screenshot if you want.

25) medal of honor railgun theme REALLY fits into C2M5, adding to the mysteriousness and shadiness of nazi research ( at least the seond part after train ) 'd love to hear it there, cause it fits the tone of the mission perfectly. Also, consider Crimson Skies main theme for victory, or some stuff ( maybe when Paris reinforcements arrive ).

26) would love to have a throw strength changed depending on how long grenade button held ('d love an indicator for that too ).

27) There must be a reason to use pistol after you get mp40 ( maybe give an optional silencer, make it faster to reload, while retaining same damage, make it SUPER accurate too, and buff your movespeed up to 115% while using it idk something )

28) Also, would love to have a quest to look for traitor in chapter 2, so that if you found out who it was he'd have to escape or it would be hard for him to do things, so you could avoid some ambushes in some missions for example if you took right course of actions. For example, tell your mission to Laz Rojas, but don't speak to the traitor about some specific orders the commander had given you or don't speak to him about the mission, or even lie to him about stuff. ( but this must be dificult to implement, so just skip this one if it's really hard )

29) Also can't seem to understand how water coolers work ( sometimes they work, sometimes they don't, anyway it's weird ), and why you can pick up helmets after 100 armor, but they don't upgrade your armor?

30) No nazi brothel in Paris, i'm disapointed. ( though there is in the future, i'm happy, but strippers need more animation, come on guys, you have swasticas all other the place, surely poor strippers could get some animations right? ) + check out the Mac OS version of wolfenstein it has better BJ head for HUD just check it out on youtube. ( it also has some good nazi voicelines you could use, and music too, the main theme is pretty damn hot )

31) On herrenrasse I had issue, where templar cultists did no damage to nazis, both chapters, idk if it's a bug or it's meant to be like that. + sometimes mauser 98 hits don't register properly, i think it's because of hitbox porn.

Lastly, it's all just minor details and that's just my opinion, you don't really have to worry about anything i just said all that much, or even consider what i said, I really liked your mod, and I thought maybe my thoughts could help you improve it, without sacrificing what you originally wanted to do with it. sure hope you could keep up the good work. Good luck to ya guys, can't wait to chapter 3.

Forgot to say:

1) with introduction of chapter 2, chapter 1 recieved engineer nazis, that can somehow survive a shotgun blast, that normal soldiers cannot ( i think their health is way off, )

2) Also chapter 1, in C1M3, before the last 2 cannons in tower there is an elevator after a corridor where a bunch of nazies come out, if you use the switch to get the elivator upstairs, while outside the elevator, it glitches out into a black texture

Really love them - excellent work AFA, been experimenting with them in great detail on C1M2: can we have regular troops also have the option to trigger them? Perhaps an option like the user_static?

Glad you are enjoying them! I've just committed a tweak to re-allow normal Nazi enemies to trigger alarms. The only exception to this now is that enemies with the AMBUSH flag won't be selected to go after the alarm, so scenes that mix sneakables and non-sneakables in a mini-cutscene, like the beginning firing squad in C2M1, will still function as desired.

I have read somewhere or heard somewhere that when the Soviet Army was about to enter Berlin that one of Hitler's officers suggested to use nerve gas of which the German forces in Berlin still had a supply off, continuing the war with that.
But apparently even Hitler considered that action to be insane.

I may have the story wrong but perhaps this is an idea for the Berlin map/level, the desperate German leadership planning to gas Berlin to take out the Soviet Army (and anyone else who is still alive).
One of B.J. Blazkowicz missions there would be to find the facility were the gas is kept and disable the means to deliver it (planes or mortars)


I got the next idea from a WW2 comic that involves the Allies and the Nazis having discovered time travel and now sending soldiers back in time to take out the other side by altering history.
Albert Einstein developed time travel technology for the allies and it is used to send back soldier squads from altering history.

In the comic the fictional Nazi super weapon Die Glocke is revealed to be the Nazi time travel vehicle.
Perhaps that could be used in the suggested ending, the future Nazis traveling back to the past/present in Die Glocke, it appearing in the ruins of Berlin or Castle Wolfenstein.

When in doubt, you can contact a contributor directly; most are registered on ZDoom.org, so you can use that site's PM system to contact them.

The version available from that thread I linked is in .PK3 format. It should run as-is, provided you have a recent enough dev build.

You have to know how to turn that into a PK3, and it's not built for release. Sometimes you even see start locations move to the middle of the level...

Yes, you can call ACS scripts from ZScript. And as I said, ACS is not gone. The introduction of ZScript changes nothing regarding ACS.
