Well, I can't tell right now but we are about 98% finished and the only things
left to do are the CREDITS, the TITLEMAP and final tests, which should take
about 1 or 2 more months!

I don't think I have words to describe how good this is. This thing is a monster
of a game. That's all I can say in a few words. Just legendary.

The only
problem I have with this, is, why would you replace the BFG9000 and the Plasma
Rifle?! Those two guns made doom what it is. I wish I could play this with
all original doom weapons! How can I do that now? :?

The BFG and Plasma havent been part of the original Episode one so there has
been no reason to add it to KDiZD but we did add more "E1 styled"
weapons for this. If you want the BFG/Plasma though, get them via console
("give bfg9000, give plasmarifle")

K, Torm, so I'm not partial to Z1M1, and if I could point out any one thing in
that level that irks me more than anything, it's that goofy little tank thing at
the very beginning of the level. It looks goofy as hell, and there's no real
way it could've gotten to where it is unless it was just driven over a ledge. I
beseech you: scrap it! Cut it like the cancerous abomination it is from all
future releases! Please!

I played through the entire game on UV, took 11
hours, mostly because I made sure not to leave a level without getting 100%
secrets, which of course leads to the whole secret level switch, and what a
horrod pain in the ass it is to find. Now, obviously it should be difficult,
but this particular secret took roughly 2 hours to figure out, EVEN AFTER I
CHEATED (which I absolutely HATE to do the first time I run through a mapset).
Once I figured it out, there was no sense of accomplishment because it was just
pure dumb luck that I even found it. It came down to me just mashing the
"Use" button on everything in sight, a la Wolfenstein 3-D. And when I
figured out what activated it, I was kinda pissed. That room is really too dark
to notice a color variation that minimal. That hunt was the least fun I'd had
in a Doom level in a long, long time.

Now, gripes aside, once I got passed
the first level I had a lot of fun with this game (and it FEELS like a full
game, which is nice). M6-8 and 10 were the best of the set by far, and I think
the maps got progressively better as they went along, with one exception, M9,
the level I spent so long trying to find. Now, maybe I was just too bitter from
the hunt to enjoy the reward. I don't know, and it wasn't any one specific
thing. I just couldn't get into that level (although the music switch was a
nice touch).

Now, I already stated that Z1M10 was a great map, and I mean it.
My one problem with it is its placement in the map set. M7 is a BIG map, and
by the time you get done with that you just kind of want to get to the end of
the game and get it done, but if you've met the requirements to open M10 (and I
have no problem with those requirements, don't tone 'em down one bit!), it pops
in there, right before the end map, and M10 is another HUGE map. As much as I
liked it, by about halfway through it I just wanted to get it done so I could
get to the end. I would advise placing it after M8, so all the pressure's off
and you can sit back and enjoy the level more.

Also, I know there's been a
debate on Doomworld about monster in-fighting, or the lack thereof in KDiZD.
I'd just like to voice my opinion that this was a welcome change. It was far
more challenging (and rewarding) having to find strategies to take care of all
the monsters myself, all the while making sure to conserve my ammo. I think the
experience overall made me a better player. In other words, if you have to rely
on the monsters doing half your work for you, you're only ever going to be a
half-way decent Doom player.

I'd like to say a lot more, but this post is
getting really long, so I'll just say kudos! I appreciate all of the team's
hard work, and I hope you'll take some of my accounts into consideration when
you revamp/streamline future versions.

This is simply a must for any DOOM player still out there.

I only wished the
fantastic secret areas you implemented were easier to find. Perhaps add a few
more hints or modify textures or the like.

In any other respect: Top-notch
stuff, state-of-the art level design, cool new weapons (especially the rifle)
and enemies (just mentioning the REAL boss enemy at the end). The recognizable
parts of original maps have been implemented in quite a smart way, too. I had to
laugh when at the beginning of the final level, all the Pinky Demons were
already lying dead around the acid barrels! *LOL*

I liked it in the final level when you open the secret nook that contains a
soulsphere in the original and find a lost soul instead. When you waste the lost
soul, it says "No soulsphere here this time ;) " That made me smile.

Finally pushed through a UVMAX 100% run through the episode about a week ago. It
was just something I couldn't avoid doing, and I had nothing but fun doing
it!

I've been playing Doom for 12 years, but that was the first time in a
decade that I actually felt like I was PLAYING Doom. Claustrophobia, exposure,
darkness, hunting for items, epic warfare, frantic pacing, using the right
weapon for the job...and oh, the eye candy! I felt like I was actually
there!

So many have tried to breathe life into this old game again, but I
believe this project hits the mark in a way none can compare to, if not only for
the nostalgia than for the razor-sharp gameplay. Congrats guys! Here's to
episode 2!

Z1M2: Where is
the green key? I know where the door is, but not the key...

Please, don't laugh me off, just because I'm writing a negative review about
such a big project.

Okay, so I started playing this a good long while ago. I
was playing on difficulty three, as a I normally do. I run out of ammo
instantly on the first level and restart on level 2, because that's how it's
supposed to generally go, I've heard. But then... I run out of ammo three more
times or so, until I figure out where all the ammo is in the level, and how to
get it to it without killing much. This is too much, this is a level 1. i also
like how if I use that shotgun I get as soon as I get it I die to harder stuff
at the end of the level.

Level 2 was fine, I greatly enjoyed this level,
though I was incredibly close to dead after running through that dark area. I
lived, it was my fault.

I start to have issues on level 3. So I'm running
around, all over the place. I'm pulling switch after switch after switch. The
problem is, I DON'T KNOW WHAT A SINGLE ONE OF THESE SWITCHES DOES. I've heard
many reviews that complain about this level get "laughed off" because
they can't take a "hexen style puzzle". If you want to start laughing,
laugh. But I love Hexen, it is my favorite doom engine game. What a really
like about that game, is a lot of the time, it tells me what the heck the
switches I'm pulling are doing! What a novelty, actually knowing what's going
on! Oh, and the secret level is incredibly stupidly impossible to find. Let's
find all 6 keys! I never did find the silver one, but whatever. Okay, so then
you have to find this barely discolored panel in a dark room! I sincerely doubt
almost anybody found this. I am sorry, but this is too much. Please, make
secrets POSSIBLE to find. PLEASE. I don't have ten hours to play through this
map every single day like I would need to to find everything. I hated this
level so much. I could not STAND it. I wanted to get through as fast as
possible.

Oh, and then after that level, I just kinda run through the game,
slowly running out of ammo, which isn't being really replaced, usually running
low on health, I don't know if I'm missing stuff, but it's irritating. The fact
you need to find so much secret ammo and health to keep high is irritating.
Then, I get to Z1M7. I'm almost out of ammo and health the whole leve, and I'm
expecting Z1M8 to be something quick, somewhat like the icon on sin, give you
ammo, and you're up to the boss. I was sorely wrong. After running through the
level over and over and just running through ammo like mad, it rarely being
replaced, I get to the bruiser brothers. Sadly, I cannot complete my review. I
ran out of ammo here and I will never see the last boss. After fighting the 5
Barons of Hell, I was hoping to find some ammo, and then fight the Bruiser
Brothers, who my brother had told me about. I didn't. I ran out of ammo
without killing one of the two and they are impossible to chainsaw.

My main
complanints here are the lack of ammo and health. I was generally okay on
health, but ammo was far too sparingly placed. The game is too difficult. I
understand the point of this game is to make a more difficult mod for those who
can beat the game easily on nightmare, but this is far far far over the top.
This is no fun. I hated almost every second of playing through this. The only
reason I played it was so I could write a review like this and hope some changes
were made for The Shores of ZDoom. I don't care if Knee Deep in ZDoom is
changed becuase I'm not touching that monstrosity again.

I really do hope
people actually read this, rather than laugh at it just, just like I've heard
typically happens to negative reviews of your "masterpiece". As far as
I can tell, if this is supposed to be the epitome of DOOM mapping, DOOM mapping
is dead.

Hi. I'm using gzdoom and when I play through this game, I don't hear any music
at all. I only got one file for this game: kdizd.pk3. Is there a file I'm

I have the complete Doom 1+2 soundtrack from the PSX version.
WIth Doomsday you
can use the sounds but with ZDoom it seems not possible.
If you can attach mo3
sounds for the maps, title and mission completed screen via a txt file or
something, let me know.

I think it will only be the first episode,but if you can see properly
youl find out that z1m10 is infact in some areas a mix of the levels from
the next 2 episodes of doom(no thy flesh consumed).Thats wat I saw
when i played the map ^^.

after i finish a map and goes into the intermission screen, i can't go on the
next level for some reason. i keep pressing random keys and it won't do
anything. I tried this on Zdoom, skulltag and gzdoom. I'm even using doom.wad.
Any help?

on level 2 when i get the red key and try to open the red door, i can't open the
red door and i have the red key. Any help without cheating. When i type in
IDKFA, i get all keys with 3 red keys.

Yes i know how to solve the mystery of the red key, first you have to go back
the area you start in and then FUCK OFF YOU TWAT if its too hard don't play it!

What, if anything, does the terrasphere do. I think its in Map 4 and when you
pick it up the screen goes yellowy but i can't seem to figure out what its for.

I just got done playing it all the way though, and all I have to say is
OUTSTANDING! It was amazing, words can't describe how I was felling when I was
playing. But I think that yall should remake the rest of the episods. But

Also, the new monsters look like shit. Well I mean actually they ARE good, but
you cannot expect me to like them when you put them together with standard doom2
monsters. I mean look at the new dark imp and the standard imp. Don't they look
(almost) from different games? You should have used the old monsters from
monsters.wad. I mean these new monsters aren't bad but they aren't
"doomy" enough when put together with the other monsters....... imho.

how about a Zdoom 2 or other maps for kdizd. we need to have the Fallen Demon
and alot of other monster put into a wad or a PK3.wad we could use some Resident
Evil 3 music and have very epic boss monsters. so if you want i could give alot
of ideas to Realm 667 and will help out if needed.

Z1M3 glitch in v1.1?

I can't seem to access the secret exit to Z1M9 in the 1.1 version. I have all 6
keys and I'm in the room with the locked door to the secret level and I've
pressed the green colored circuitry on the one vat of slime 10 different times
and the door to the 6-key switch STILL won't open. This worked in the previous
v1.0 but maybe this is a bug in v1.1?

also) as these parts of the maps haven't been touched from 1.0 to 1.1

I am trying to run KDiZD on ZDoom 2.4. I noticed that the files are in a PK3
format. I tried unpacking the PK3 file and putting them into my zdoom\mods
folder and running the game. It crashed and gave me an error I didn't
understand. So, how do I run this mod?
