Just spotted an interesting development thread over at ZDoom.org by zrrion the insect. In The Deep Earth is actually a project with a lot of new stuff like invasion style game, new weapons and a Quake-like setting. It's currently in very early stages but seems to have a lot of potential. A WIP-version can already be downloaded, so I'd suggest give it a try, it's definitely worth it.
