Some of these are quite nice (I especially like a lot of the brick, stonework, and cobble), but in a lot of cases, it's kind of obvious that the textures were meant for a fully 3D engine and not a raycasting engine like Doom--stuff like the shingle roofs or the oversized cabinetry--and those might be more difficult for people to use unless they're into stuff like texture scaling or 3D sectors. I guess that's kind of expected if you're ripping an entire texture library, but I'd at least like to see some of the multi-purpose decorative sheets (like posters/paintings, etc.) split into separate elements to make them easier to use on a 2-sided line (simulating a "decal" on a wall). Think you might be up to that?

 Warning: Spoiler!

Also, did you submit this in a WinRAR format instead of just a .zip? How naughty. ![:)](https://www.realm667.com/media/kunena/emoticons/cacsmi.gif ":)")

I think in times of GZDoom and UDMF format in general, highres textures are okay. I agree with the multi-purpose textures though, that would make editing much easier.

I'll see what to do with the multi-purpose texture thing with this pack for sure, but only when I'll had some time eheh, you know why...
Anyway, the format is .7z and not .rar, so you can unpack it even with WinZip or 7zip afaik, both are free...
I did this because of compression performance: I can save 3-4mb via .7z files, and I know there are some on the repository... or am I wrong?

I'm not sure, actually. I know the [ rules](http://www.realm667.com/index.php/en/kunena/texture-stock/6-texture-stock-submission-rules-read-this) say **You can submit as a zipped wad file OR in pk3 format.** I can't say offhand that there are or aren't any .7z files on the repo that break this rule, but I wouldn't try to rock the boat without first getting approval for a new compression format. Regardless, I do know that .zip is more convenient, since it's supported natively by Windows, and thus is probably easier for modders to work with (not to mention consistent with other submission types).

 Warning: Spoiler!

I do use WinRAR too, and it still tells me to pay for it every time. ![:P](https://www.realm667.com/tongue.gif ":P")

NP then, I'll rebuild the pack in a .zip file.

Strange that winzip tells you to pay meh, I dropped it since my very first times with WinXP old ages... go for 7zip, it's free and very good for things like that (I also use winrar "registered" too, unfortunately I have a 32bit OS so I can't afford the 5 version, which is 64bit and has a super-compression method afaik)

GZDoom itself is distributed as a 7z and it supports reading 7z compressed files, so it's cool.

7zip can also produce normal zip files, just select in the "archive format" dropdown "zip".
And it's true, 7zip compresses textures better than zip or rar, it produces smaller files!

Sorry, when I said "WinZip" I really meant "WinRAR"; that's what I use to open up 7z files. Either way, even if GZDoom can read 7z files, modders will still need something to open them up to use with ZDoom. I realize that's not a Herculean task, but it does technically violate submission rules as they are now. Mind you, I'm not against supporting 7z as a file format; it's just that it's not my judgment call. Maybe Torm will weigh in on this (if not, I'll ask him about it).

Anyways, let's not get hung up on the compression method for now. ![:)](https://www.realm667.com/media/kunena/emoticons/cacsmi.gif ":)")

Updated the main OP with the newly rebuilt .zip link

Now we have 314 textures sorted by type, and all of them use 8 characters max so users can easily set them as shortnamed or longnamed ones while building maps.
Also fixed several textures without necessary alpha channels though.

In the end I consider this submission ready, unless someone else will notice more issues.

I still think that certain textures like DECS0004 and most of the PICS000X should be split into separate textures, so users don't have to count the offsets when trying to use them (WART0007 - 0009 might also benefit). Several of the "paintings" or "photos" will also need to be rotated 90 degrees to make them easier to use. Likewise with DECS0001.

Apart from that, this seems pretty OK.
