Completed level 3, i really liked how non-linear it was in the initial area, the church was also amazing, well done!

One question, is it intended that the enemies can see you through the polyobject doors? Cause the whole level was like that, enemies would try to shoot me before i opened the doors

One of the books in the church has an incorrect texture assigned to it

This other model has some problems too, i can't tell if it's a bad texture bake or an unassigned uv map to some of the vertexes

You can get stuck here, i think the problem is that the line portal is too close to the two corners where the corridor gets bigger


I've been unable to replicate this glitch (and couldn't get a proper screenshot too), but basically after this fight only the mugshot of douglas appeared without the window and text, the first text about having to grab the letter displayed fine, then this happened, and after i walked on the desk where the letter was it started displaying correctly


Stuff that isn't a bug:
I'd remove this cobweb or turn it into a variant that you can get through, it makes sense in the underground section that cobwebs block your path, but here it sorta looks weird.

I'd lower this slope by just a tiny bit so it's easier to walk past it after you need to exit the underground



Also, i've modified the shotgun sprite a bit, made the top less smudgy and added non-mirrored edge highlights


EDIT: I've made an alt version with a different barrel taken from a modified shotgun by Mike12, i think it fits better since the old one looked quite cartoony compared to the stock

Done , but still I am not satisfied with these low-poly models from RTCW.
Maybe I'll replace them after C2 release (the Holy Graal has still a small misalignment over its beak, those were broken faces - fixed UV though)
But we used them only on c2m3 so...

Thank you kindly Batandy for that sprite, I choose the 2nd variant + added the "close" frame too.

In first map nazis starts attacking you as soom as you leave the vent(i restarted map several times, tried going when nazis are executing the wall(i dunno what did it do :P)
It might be just me, but when you stab a dog, it sounds like both human and dog yell

In c2m6_b, there seems to be an issue with some missing sound blocking lines... If I fire a weapon in the first area with the blue key (the specific test location I've been using is right outside of the bathroom door, firing the MP40), every enemy in most of the rest of the map wakes up... This really screws up the stealth gameplay, because they all end up in random positions once they go back to idle.

I've tried to fix it, but with no luck - and I confirmed that it's not anything in the ZScript actors or stealth handling, because a cyberdemon placed in the submarine pen ends up waking up as well :-). Plus GZDB's sound propagation mode shows no issues with the blocking...

Re: above post - the three "executioner" SSMP40 Nazis are non-sneakables, so should probably be flagged as AMBUSH until after their execution firing. I haven't tested, but will the sneakable variant not work here?

Sooo, my initial idea was to create a blind playthrough of C2M1, but then I kept dying for 10+ minutes because the guards always woke up. Turns out it happens because the stealth system is not intuitive at all: guards can even wake up if you are far away and not in line of sight, and you move very little. So instead of me playing C2M1 I made a video showcasing the problem. Now that I know what I kept doing wrong I'll record a new video, but it's getting late, so it will have to wait.

I swear something has changed with how A_AlertMonsters is working... I just tried to do a runthrough of the first part there and was attacked on the catwalk while my visibility was well below max - I wasn't crouched, so my footsteps were making noise. The footstep sound actor is currently calling A_AlertMonsters every step, but I've done this dozens of times before without waking the guards.

I think I'm going to remove that A_AlertMonsters call anyway (that or really scope down the radius), because footsteps are already factored into visibility.

EDIT: OK, this should be fixed now. I basically did what I discussed above with the player footsteps, and fixed the "executioner" SSMP40 actor issue as well.

Yes, I can confirm that the "situation" now work better IME... That's awesome as usual AFA, thanks a lot for fixing it :cool:
Concerning the dropitem question: before your changes with ZScript, I had a plan to use A_DropItem directly over death states...
So if you think that my solution could be better, without going on ZScript, just tell me and I'll start working on it.

Well, A_NoBlocking already takes a boolean parameter for whether to drop items or not (apparently the wiki isn't up-to-date - have to fix that later)

From actor.txt:
native void A_NoBlocking(bool drop = true);

So the easiest thing to do if we never want sneakable enemies to drop weapons or ammo is to change all of the Nazi descendant actors' Death states to call
A_NoBlocking(!user_sneakable)
instead of just
A_NoBlocking
So, the result will be: Do all of the fall/unblock code, but only spawn DropItems if the actor is not sneakable.

The only real problem then is that if we *DO* want a sneakable enemy to spawn a weapon, it'll have to be handled some other way - I could add another variable/Property (Nazi.AlwaysDoDrops or something like that), that would let the default sneakable behavior be that items are never dropped, but an individual actor could be set up to be both sneakable and drop items... Don't know if we need to go that far, though.

I found some other issues while I was playtesting C2 recently:

C2M6_B:
- During the first part of C2M6_B, almost all of the enemies all across the map can hear me while I'm making my way to the scientist uniform. None of the enemies were in the positions they are supposed to be in.

- Enemies, except for those that weren't alerted during the first part of the level, will go nuts whenever I take out a weapon.
- What am I supposed to do about the rats in the storage room where the green key is? If I take out a weapon, I'll end up alerting everyone in the vicinity.

- I had to shoot the Gestapo officer guarding the Kennkarte, and I also had to kill a few other nazis that apparently noticed me while I had my shotgun out.

C2M6_C:
- Douglas shoots me after he finishes talking to me and starts to walk away.
- I think the primary objectives should be re-written as such:
Kill Seeteufel and Giftmacher
Shut down the Hades facility (accomplished when you meet Douglas at the emergency escape elevator)
Investigate Fettgesicht's excavation (accomplished when you defeat the final boss and get the blade)
- I had all the keys from C2M6_B at the start of this level.
- I failed to get the ending sequence to start when I left the hole that leads to the excavation. I suggest using a linedef special action instead of a sector entry action, because the sector entry action only works when the player is on the floor.

When weapon-equipped monsters are submitted, it's not typical that they're paired with a submission of the weapon they're equipped with.
