Celebrate Valentines with A Janitor's Nightmare, a Global Game Jam title

Its that time of the year again. Celebrating your love to your spouse, your crush, your family. But what if  you do not know any proper Valentines present? Well, Realm667 has you covered. By presenting A Janitor's Nightmare, a standalone GZDoom title by seasoned veteran NashMuhandes, you sure will impress your hidden crush! Developed for the Global Game Jam, a global game event to create new titles in a short amount of time, A Janitor's Nightmare revolves around your role as a janitor, tasked with repairing the toilets to decrease the toxic water levels that are running throughout the building. You see, not only is the water toxic... it also brings life to some particularly shitty creatures... with your Clean-O-Launcher being the only solution to the smelly problem. So, don't invite your lovers to dinner or present them flowers, but have them play A Janitor's Nightmare instead. Toilet talk will have a whole new meaning.

Chaos and Order

Not being a weapons mod fan myself, these kind of creations really need to be something special to get my attention. In the special case of Heretic - Order and Chaos, the coder amv2k9 exactly got what it needed. Order & Chaos' twist on Heretic's gameplay is such: You have entered a world where the very atmosphere itself slowly eats away at your health, and health pickups are extremely rare. All is not lost, though; your weapons siphon life from killed enemies, and your health maxes out at 500. Armor is also more plentiful; in fact, armor pickups ranging from a meagre 1 point to as many as 128 points now replace health artifacts and most powerups, and the max amount of armor you can have is 500. Doesn't sound interesting enough yet? Check the release and development thread over at ZDoom. It's definitely an interesting gameplay approach.

Chapter 3 features drivable Tanks

Sick and tired blasting Nazis at foot? Say no more - we did the impossible! After hours of coding by AFADoomer, hours of defining models by Ozymandias and hours of enslaving by ...err me... we are proud to present you the first fully drivable and steerable tank in a Doom engine powered by GZDoom. Chex Megathread

ultimatechexChex is not dead. We reported about the HD-remake that's currently in progress a few days ago and there is also some stuff for our good old retro-gamers and pixel-lovers in the pipeline. Death Egg has compiled a thread with all the Chex releases and progressing mods out there currently, featuring his very own which is based on works by Boingo the Clown, titled The Ultimate Chex Quest. It's under development and in the need of additional support in terms of mappers but things are going well lately. Check the thread for more information.

Chex Quest HD

chexquestNot perfectly Doom-related, but somehow still of high interest to all of you who are interested in Chex Quest (the infamous standalone game about cereals and green slimey monsters that has been delivered as a goody). The artist Charles Jacobi who has been responsible for the original is currently working on a remake that catches the story and feeling of the 1996-release bringing it up to more modern standards. How that looks, what his plans are and some more trivia can be read here.

Choose your destiny

Just spotted a new release from one of the quality garants at the ZDoom community: Corruption Cards by cutmanmike. If you have ever been into gambling, this is the right mod for your classic experiences. It is a gameplay modifier which starts each map with a choice of cards. These cards effect the gameplay in some way. The effects range from altering monster attacks, adding new rules, changing items etc. They are only slight tweaks, some more dangerous than others. Every 3 maps, you are offered a permanent card. This card will be locked in for the rest of the game, meaning you will have to live with your choice until the game is over! Obviously this is intended for single runs or survival (zandronum) to see how long you can go on with all the stacked effects, but as with all Doom mods you're welcome to save and load. For more information, features, and compatibility, check the development thread over at ZDoom.

Chris Hansen's Monument

MonumentChris Hansen is most propably one of the Doomer's who is around for the longest time (at least of those I can think of) and he is always a guarant for quality stuff. Currently, he is working on a project called Monument. So, what is Monument exactly? Well, as boring as it sounds, it's "just" an episode 2 replacement consisting of all his prior episode 2 pwads with maps ranging from 1998 to 2015. But he hasn't just compiled them into one wad. Every map has been tweaked in some way. Right from minor adjustments to major revamping! He's gone through a lot of effort and many weeks of hard work to make sure that this is a quality release, that he can be proud of - and that's what he can be. There's a new statbar, music and color palette and many more aspects. More information and screenshots can be found here.

Christmas Extravaganza Map Pack - 2011

##### Christmas Extraveganza Map Pack - 2011 Are you tired of the constant disappointing Christmas mods which just don't quite cut it for you? It's understandable. After all, developers are only willing to put so much work into a project which is going to be played only once a year. CEMP11 is a deathmatch extravaganza packed to the brim with holiday cheer, new features and completely unexpected content such as bearded killers and lunar anomalies. What truly sets this mod apart from the others is the fact that the developers aren't starting from scratch, but rather from where they left off last year. This allows for the release of a well-developed map pack which each year has the opportunity of being better than the last. The announced release date of the project this year is December 8th. It is speculated that the thread for this project may appear a few days prior to the release, so keep your eyes peeled!

Coldpal, a new palette for Doom/Doom 2, released

ReaperAA has been focussing his attention on a side of Doom that is often ignored. Whilst we love to discuss mods, WADS and source ports, his work focusses on modifying the Doom palette, accentuating and nuancing specific colors of the color spectrum. His most recent work is called Coldpal. The focus was primarily on the red, blue and green colours and the results are subtle, but refined. In the included screenshot, it is instantly noticeable how the blue colours are less subdued and more prominent in the scene. According to ReaperAA, this should work with both Doom and Doom 2 and other vanilla assets. Be sure to also look for HeresyPal, another replacement palette but for Heretic by the same author. Thus, bring some more colour in your Doom and give Coldpal a go!

Colourful Hell

Colourful HellDid you ever imagine what it would be if Diablo's/World of Warcraft's monster gameplay style got adapted to the Doom engine? Well, Hege Cactus must have had exactly that thought when he started his mod Colourful Hell. So what is it about? Slightly jokish but mostly serious; The mod randomizes the enemies and gives them a colourcode that reflects their rarity and strength using the generic MMO colour tier systems. For example green are common, blue are rare, orange are legendary. At the moment the mod is still wip but you can already get an idea checking the development thread over at ZDoom.org.
