D00MCΞNTΞR·AИYWHΞRΞCITУ

doomcityEver wondered what it would be if Grand Theft Auto and Doom merge? Well, sometimes people have crazy ideas and high ambitions but in this special case it seems to work out. The mapper Zeberpal has just started this a few months ago now and the latest screenshots are more than promsing. There isn't much explanatin at the development thread over at ZDoom, just screenshots galore and a video, but actually it's self-explaining, just take a look at it yourself.

Dafuq?! Globe is teasing us!

##### Dafuq?! Globe is teasing us! I guess most of you are aware of the "What the hell are you working on"-threads over at Doomworld and ZDoom. It's a very good place to keep yourself informed about projects in progress but also a great resource to gather some motivation or inspiration, if you have a bad mood or run into a mapper's block. Today I spotted something that could have been originally made by Enjay. Why? Because he is teasing us with Aspects shots now for decades and it's a shame that he still hasn't released anything. Exactly like Enjay's shots, Globe has just appeared out of nowhere (at least for me) and teased us with something that looks like a complete and perfectly executed total conversion - with a nice Strife-touch, the screenshot speaks for itself. More can be found here btw... I am damn curious when we will have a development thread for the project.

*UPDATE*
I failed it! It's a TC for EDuke32 and not for ZDoom (thanks for pointing this out, Gez), but anyway - it looks awesome!
*UPDATE 2: Electric Dukaloo*
It now has a project thread on a DN3D forum, if you are curious.

Dark Prophecy

asterionJust spotted a new project over at ZDoom.org which seems to be of very huge scale and ambitious plans: Dark Prophecy, a story driven RPG with partly open world, lots of NPCs and stuff. The setting is based on original czech RPG world Asterion with some quite original things. Setting will not be a pure fantasy, but the mapper ramon.dexter wants to make something like Strife did - mixing fantasy with science-fiction. A list of features and very promising screenshots can be found at the development thread.

Dark Tartarus

Dark TartarusOut of nowhere, the newcomer mapper PLA has released the fifth version of his project Dark Tartarus at the ZDoom forums. It's always a great thing if new mappers join the community, bringing in fresh wind and new ideas to resources that have been already used a thousand times in various contexts before. I consider Dark Tartarus to be an exception in design and texture usage and really like what the author came up with. It is planned to be a 43-map project in the end. There is still lots of work left to be done but you can already get a good overview where it is heading. Visit the thread and check the release.

Dark Universe Part 2

Early progress on the sequel to the 2018 Cacoward-winning Dark Universe Part 1 by Paul Dechene. After abandoning the doomed starship UAC Kearsarge, you find yourself on a nearby planetoid where you must survive against indigenous creatures, dangerous alien terrain, and the demons who are still hunting you. Hoping for a late 2019 release. For GZDoom Doom 2. More information about Part 1 can be found here.

Darkest Forces

Just spotted something over at ZDoom that gave me an instant boner: A new Star Wars mod in the spirit of Dark Forces and Rex Claussen's Darkest Hour, filled with modern engine features powered by GZDoom. Currently only 3 maps, a few weapons and enemies are planned but who knows what might happen in the future, as the video and screenshots are pure quality and gives you that special force-feeling you are all looking for. So what does the author say?

dead.air

deadairWhat comes after dead.wire? Exactly, dead.air, Xaser's successor to his contest entry a few years ago. Currently it's only available as a beta version but the screenshots already tease you enough to even try that. Next to amazing visuals and map design, the wad also includes a new color map, some new monsters and other surprises that are a must-play - it's a Xaser-map after all, isn't it?

Deathless released

Just spotted by accident, that jimmy has released his 27-map project Deathless at the Doomworld forums a few weeks ago. How could I miss that? And what is it all about? This is what jimmy said: "As with that set, I condensed the process of creating it into the slimmest timeframe I possibly could. The 27 layouts for the three new episodes were first blocked out starting midnight 1st Nov. The 27th map was thingplaced and balanced at about midnight 10th Nov, so the total build time for this is nine days." Considerind the quality of the mapset, this is a definite Cacoward for this year. Check out the thread and get your copy!

Deathmatch Simulator

The modder Kinsie has just released the latest build of his Deathmatch Simulator over at ZDoom.org. It is a mod for GZDoom that aims to recreate the thrills and excitement of all the deathmatching you normally need to install a fork of a decade-out-of-date engine build to do. Independent scientific reports have shown that Deathmatch Simulator is capable of "simulating" a deathmatch game with "100%" "accuracy" (or something). However, should you turn monsters off or actually be able to start a multiplayer game, the simulation aspect will be suspended, allowing you to cheerfully enjoy true multiplayer with some new content that might have even been built with it in mind.

Deem 2: ReDeem'd

ReDeem'dIt's already been a while since jokewads like Nuts or The Community is Falling have been in fashion - not a sad fact if you ask me, but that's just my opinion. But "look now, what JaxxonR has done to our world" by starting it all over with a new project he is currently working on called Deem 2: ReDeem'd which seems to be something of a very good quality. There isn't much to see at the moment except some screenshots and a list of features, but these are already promising. More can be found here, just take a look at it yourself.
