Nonsense

##### Nonsense "There is a dimension, a dimension full of nonsense and surrealism. It is a place where crates are out to kill you, and a place where logic jumps off a bridge. A journey into a wondrous land of ludicrosity, your next stop: Beyond Reality!"

The author puts it in a nutshell. If you are interested in something totally crazy and different, it's time for you to get your hands on Beyond Reality, a Doom mod that goes beyond anything that has been seen so far. This is not a simple joke wad, it's more an unreal creation of a twisted dimension but in a very high quality and very well executed. You can find a download link and further info in the dev thread over at ZDoom.org.

Noth sequel has been reeleased!

##### Noth sequel has been reeleased! Ever heard of Kinsie? If not, you definitely should have as he is one of the artists who is responsible for crazy and different mod ideas from the past few years, e.g. "Night of the homeless" or "Truckosaur" to mention two of them. The former one has finally got its sequel - but expect more than just a flat-out sequel

"Each game is divided into five sixty-second rounds. In between each round, this slot machine in your HUD activates, changing the rules set for the next round. One minute you're rolling around in an absurdly large tank crushing Hell Knights beneath your treads without a care in the world, the next you're desperately fleeing at half speed while firing Wolfenstein weapons futilely at an invulnerable hellbeast, then the next you're flying around lobbing petrol bombs at Imps. The choice isn't yours, it's all up to chance and a cruel, unforgiving RNG. And if you survive all five rounds...?"

A gameplay video as well as further information, screenshots and a download link can be found over at ZDoom.org in the development thread. Reelism is something that you will like or hate... well, I like it!

Oblige is better than me

oblige750The random level generator Oblige has been updated to a new version bringing it up to 7.50 now. After trying it myself last night I have to admit that automatic mapping has come a long way now. The maps the program generates feel very organic and playing them is really fun indeed. There is a huge load of possibilities when setting up the parameters for your random creation and so any kind of set up is possible. It is even capable of adding own monster definitions to even more randomness (for example you could try Spellcross for a nice reference on how this might look like). I really suggest you try out the new version from the official homepage... now imagine AutoDoom playing maps from Oblige... feels pretty much like a hybrid of Matrix and Terminator now to me...

Online Highscores for Doom

##### Online Highscores for Doom The latest version of ScoreDoom (v3.0r2) and ScoredoomST (v0.97c2-R5b) have been released a few days ago, mostly being a fix for running uac_dead.wad without any problems. For those of you who have never heard of ScoreDoom, it's actually a sourceport based on ZDoom (and Skulltag) but gives a little twist to the gameplay, especially for multiplayer games.

"Try to find as many secrets and map items as possible, kill as many monsters as possible, complete as many map objectives as possible, and explode as many barrels as possible, as quickly as possible. The player with the highest points or hi-score wins the game. Other than that, it is Doom."

It supports new gamemodes, custom wads, a addon pack with new monsters and even an online highscore table. More information and the latest version can be found at its official project page.

Operation Bodycount

The mapper ImpieTwo has just released his latest side-project called Operation Bodycount, revisiting a previous remake he abandoned a couple years back. The project is three objective-based with multi-storied missions. The objectives are clear: Kill terrorists, rescue hostages, disarm nuclear devices, and save the world from HORUS's ultimate jihad. A remake of the terrible DOS shooter of the same name, in the same spirit as his previous remake, Nerves of Steel. The story goes:

The HORUS terrorist group has just made super-terrorist Victor Baloch its new leader, and they’ve stolen several nuclear warheads. With the nukes in tow, they’ve begun holding the world hostage one region at a time.
In response to this, NATO has greenlit a campaign to eradicate HORUS and Victor once and for all, with the Hercules of counter-terrorism Hector Juarez taking point. Operation Body Count is a go.

This doesn't only sound fun: It definitely is. Check the release thread with more information and a nice showcase video from the official release thread over at ZDoom.

Operation Echo

A perfect sidescroller in the Doom engine isn't possible... or is it actually? GreenLegacy proofed that with the power of GZDoom's ZScript it's not only possible but it's also very good an fun to play. Echo is GreenLegacy's first commercial game and influenced by several side-scroll-games such as Metal Slug or Megaman,  and it does very well with that. What is it about?

M16 is the protagonist of this game. He was famous butler robot. But after Mutant Armageddon started, he got the order of Dr.Miller who created M16.His mission was saving the people's life from the mutant. After adding combat capabilities to M16.He armed with plasma weapon and combat gear that never has before. Now all he needs to do is eliminate all enemies to bring peace back to the earth...

Sounds like fun? It definitely is. Check the newly released demo from the development thread and support the project!

Operation Sea Wolf

ImpieTwo has finally released the third project in a row now after Project Einherjar and Operation Boycount with the promising title Operation Sea Wolf, an 8-map remake of the original Wolfendoom - Operation Arctic Wolf. The story in a nutshell: You are Juno, drafted by her government to destroy an enemy operation centered around a stealth submarine which could allow two maniacs to dominate the globe. The mission is somewhat personal for Juno, as one of those maniacs is an old rival with a score to settle. The mod Includes new maps, weapons, and enemies in a modified Junoverse. All maps are adapted from Operation Arctic Wolf and remade from scratch for improved, streamlined gameplay and a more cinematic experience. This is really a big recommendation from me, so go and get it from the original page.

Operation Serpent

Operation SerpentThis is not perfectly Doom-related but considering its history in relation to Wolfenstein 3D it somehow is after all. The mapper Woolie Wool has released his project Operation Serpent First Encounter about 2 weeks ago and in my eyes it's one of the most ambitious projects ever for Wolfenstein 3D - or actually ECWolf, which can be considered as a little sister to GZDoom, just for Wolf3D.

"Operation Serpent is by far my most advanced and radical mod yet, featuring enormous levels and a host of ECWolf features never seen before, and a unique aesthetic inspired by the art and culture of the late 1980s, including an original '80s metal soundtrack composed by Bashe and Shane Strife and performed on real guitars. A hand-edited COLORMAP with gradient sky effects and fullbright colors, an all-new roster of enemies and weapons, and Doom-style weapon bobbing and hitscan attacks make Operation Serpent look and play like no other Wolfenstein mod. Though it has only eight levels, each of these levels is four to six times the length of a standard Wolfenstein level. A new player should take 6-8 hours to complete Operation Serpent."

If that's not enough to make you wanna instantly play the mod, then I simply don't know what's wrong with you. Check the release thread, download your copy and get back into the early 90's!

Operation: Eisenfaust Legacy

Eisenfaust LegacyThis is not Doom-related but still it's worth being posted: Team RayCast has just released his standalone project Operation: Eisenfaust Legacy which is actually a 127mb large Wolf-3D mod (oh yes, they've come a long way). The project was four years in the making and features a lot of nifty and shiny things that haven't been present in the original game. The story takes place after the events that occured in Operation: Eisenfaust Origins and Operation: Eisenfaust. After Schabbs' demise, it was assumed that the Eisenfaust plans had been destroyed once and for all. But a former protégé of Schabbs has taken the blueprints of the operation and is attempting to restart it. It is up to special agent B.J. Blazkowicz to stop the Nazi's from creating another mutant army. Will B.J. stop them, or is he about to find out that the operation might have progressed a lot faster than he thought, with its effects far more devastating. You can find the download as well as further information at the official release thread.

Original and Nocturnal Missions - Enhanced

##### Original and Nocturnal Missions - Enhanced A few days ago, CeeJay released his enhanced versions of Laz Rojas original WolfenDoom ports of The Original Missions and The Nocturnal Missions from Wolfenstein 3D. The changes mostly make the whole project more playable and closer to the original.

Unfortunately CeeJay stated that this is the only improvement of original WolfenDoom work that he has planned - though I really hope with a little bit of luck he changes his mind. Laz Rojas did an amazing job with his creations, especially the original stuff like Rheingold or Arctiv, it would really deserve an update.
