Shadows of Apocalypse

There can't be enough of postapocalyptic projects inspired by Fallout and similar games - so here is another one: Shadows of Apocalypse. The mapper ramon.dexter has released a first public demo of his project and it is already very promising what he came up with. It features a hub based and detailed world  filled with hand crated voxel models and sprites, strife-like gameplay with strong emphasis on main story and sidequests, new enemies/weapons/items, a new hud and many other cool features like a camping system that makes you feel like in another game. It's worth checking out!

Shadows of Apocalypse - Public Beta

There was a great war. Noone knows who started it, and it doesn't matter. The atomic war was not so bad as everyone expected. Some places were not so badly destoyed, like the Bohemian lands, People emerged from their shelters and begun a new life, again. And with people returned greed and power struggle. One of the many power groups are the rangers. The so-called guardians of peace. The player will be a ranger, send to inspect why the main base does not respond to radio calls. During his yourney he will encounter many mutated creatures, as well as many friendly npc's and vendors. But this is only rough sketch and could be changed in the future.

Shadows of Destiny

Wolfenstein3D projects seem to be fashionable again, especially when they are based on advanced Doom engines. jazzmaster9 has released the first beta version of his mod Shadows of Destiny which takes part in the Wolfenstein-universe but is using the full advantage of the ZDoom port. Still, it's in the total spirit of the original Wolf-game -  a homage to his favorite mods, specifically Spear: End of Destiny, and all the WolfenDoom TC throughout the years. You're interested? Then take a look at the development thread, it's worth a try!

SIGIL - A new megawad by John Romero

Crazy things are happening these days. John Romero, former member of the team that originally developed Doom, has announced a new megawad. Sigil will be released in February and to be honest: It's exciting and great news to many of us. There is already a project page on his official site for further information, so take a look at it for some screenshots and detailed stuff about the project. Hell, I am excited!

SIGIL released!

The SIGIL is a mod for the original Doom by no lesser evil than John Romero himself and is distributed as such and has been already released a while ago. Still, it would be a shame not to mention it here. It contains nine single-player and nine deathmatch levels. SIGIL™ is the spiritual successor to the fourth episode of Doom, and picks up where the original left off.

Simon's Destiny v1.3

Batandy is obviously on a mapping and modding rage these days. After having released Golden Souls 2 only a few days ago, a new version of Castlevania Simon's Destiny has been released, bringing it up to version 1.3 and adding new features like environment maps or the so called bump mapping. Check the ModDb page of the project and download the latest version, it's definitely worth replaying,

Skulldash 2.0

Over at Doomworld I just spotted that Dragonfly is preparing the release of his official expension pack for Skulldash, the Fast-Paced Speedrun Arcade Mod released in 2015. It is receiving a major re-release, which he has been referring to as the Expanded Edition! So what can be expected? This release will land on the two year anniversary of the original release, October 22nd 2017. The expansion pack features 15+ new levels by Dragonfly, Remmirath, Bauul, Tormentor667 (yes, that's me), Jimmy, Dreadopp, Xyzzy01, AtroNx and kyle2959 as well as upates to all previously existing levels, ported from Zandronum to GZDoom, a scoring system and finally a highscore-logging. For a video, just read on or check the announcement thread.

Skulldash Expansion

SkullDash ExpansionA few days ago, we reported the release of DragonFly's arcade-style mod SkullDash. The new approach was well-received by the community and therefore an expansion pack was inevitable, not only in my and many other Doomer's eyes but also for the author himself. And well, development already started and if you are interested, you can even be an active part of it as the expansion tier is meant to be a community tier after all.

For myself, I already finished my contribution and send it to DragonFly and I really suggest you take a closer look at the project and join us. In my eyes, the gamemode brings a whole new component to Doom's gameplay and this is what makes SkullDash so damn interesting and varied. Be part of it - either by trying it out or contributing your own map.
